treeturn is the woodturner-illustrator duo of Yelena Synkova and Sean Cummings, working from beacon hill and charlestown, Boston.

The pair have been working in wood and illustration since their college years, and on illustrated woodturnings for a few years now.  Sean learned drawing as an architecture student at Carnegie Mellon and MassArt.  Yelena attended the North Bennett Street School, where she learned furnituremaking, but quickly moved into her niche, woodturning.  Both the wood and the content of the drawings in the work are all about the artists' relationship with Boston: sometimes fantastical views of buildings and streets inspired by the Back Bay, Beacon Hill, and elsewhere in particular the New England coast emerge from the imperfections in natural found wood from trees that came down naturally in boston and surrounding towns.
